Hey there, future finance whiz! Based on the most helpful WSO content, breaking into investment banking from a non-target school is definitely not impossible, but it does require some extra elbow grease. Here's a game plan for you:

  1. Start prepping for those technical interviews early. The sooner you start, the better. You'll need to prove that you're just as knowledgeable as those coming from target schools.

  2. Network, network, network! This is key. Reach out to alumni, attend finance events, and don't be shy about introducing yourself. You never know who might be able to help you land an interview.

  3. Your school's career center can be a great resource. They should have stats on placement each year which can help you gauge your odds.

  4. If you're not seeing the results you want, transferring to a better school after your freshman year is an option. But remember, it's not just about the school - it's about the effort you put in.

Remember, it's not about where you start, it's about where you finish. Keep your chin up and your eyes on the prize!
