Non Target - there is an MD at an EB who went to my school, can I reach out
I go to a non target school. We have a program that accepts 25 students per year and sends them primarily to WF, RBC, and a few others. One per year goes to EVR/LAZ. I'm currently a rising sophomore applying in the spring. There's an MD who went to undergrad at my school and is now at PJT/Moelis. No other graduate works there. Is it impossible to network with him? If it isn't what is the best way to approach it? Thank you.
Of course it is possible. In fact, it's highly encouraged. I would approach it by first contacting him on linkedin or send out an email. After that, perhaps call and, if convenient, invite him out for coffee or something. It's important to acknowledge that he probably also has a busy day so he might very well be busy. Best of luck in your search.
Thank you for the advice. I'm actually many states away so unfortunately I can't do a coffee chat but once recruiting season is over I'll definitely send over an email.
Yeah, you should reach out to your UF alum at PJT/Moelis.
