Not doing deals?

During my summer internship, I didn't work on any live deals. Rather, my staffer put me on client presentations and pitches. Other interns I worked with were staffed on live deals, often more than one.

What if this happens again when I start FT? I don't want to be stuck doing pitches for two years. Any suggestions on how to get more deal exposure? Thanks for your input.

Depends on where you're joining. If you're in a situation with lots of deal flow, it will sort itself out natually...

Working on deals as a summer, a good banker does not make.

Honestly they probably didn't do much more for live deals than anyone else. Look - I summered somewhere other than GS, but was the first person out of my group staffed (during training). They went with me over the people they knew b/c my cube was next to the associate on the deal...

Randomness will sort it out.
