NYC Housing SA 2025

Hi all, i was wondering what the best options are for housing in NYC for interns. Any pros / cons, dont have a budget but would like to save as much as possible. Thanks

Edit: Heard about NYU dorms, but any other good alternatives?

NYU has dorms open in summer, fun spot for weekends out since close to where our age bracket goes out.

Think it’s anywhere from 5500-8000, few options to choose from.

This is what i’m doing but you will hear mixed reviews. I just wanted a place to sleep lmao

nyu is solid. Iirc I paid 4300 for a dorm but it was shared (had a roommate). Singles are a few thousand more so it comes down to ur personal preference

Lived in a BB housing block in NYU Dorms when I was SA last year. If you are at a BB, they will usually reach out around March with info about housing blocks. I lived in Lafayette and it was absolutely horrible. Very active homeless shelter right next door with violent homeless ppl usually blocking your path to the subway. Also, a 30 min train to Midtown every day with long hours can be annoying. The state of the dorm is very old and dingey but completely livable. Paid roughly 6k for the summer. I know someone who had to move out of Lafayette halfway thru the summer bc of insect infestation.

Pros of Lafayette were that everyone living in the building was an SA working at a bank and that it was a good social scene (lots of organic networking and everyone wanted to be friends).

I had friends live in other NYU dorms in NoHo and Midtown and they had much better experiences than I did. I would recommend NYU dorms but would not recommend Lafayette. Also friends with an NYU alum who says Lafayette is the worst dorm out of all NYU dorms lol.
