ONLY getting into one top finance club at Target

At my target school I ONLY got into one finance club. That being said it is no doubt the BEST finance club, but looking at my competitors’ LinkedIn, they have two or more clubs. How screwed am I and should I prioritize trying to get into more clubs or finding internships? I am a freshman by the way.

Okay, I’m half-trolling, but considering how brutal and cutthroat IB recruiting is these days, I want to max everything out, but wondering if tryharding does not serve me anything good.

My advice: It's Friday at 10:30pm....go drink a beer and worry about clubs on Sunday. Get tf off WSO.

Career advice: Just keep trying slugger. Target, get into a couple clubs next sem, get a good internship, just work hard and you'll be fine. But seriously go get drunk and laid PLEASE

Dude idk. It's not so black and white. 5 clubs is better then 1 club for a freshmen summer internship, but that doesn't mean you can't bag one with only 1 or 0 clubs. I've seen dudes with 0 clubs get into BB's and EB's, they started charities or businesses. It's not so linear. Just work hard, find something you enjoy doing and go 1000mph at it doing the absolute best you can. and most importantly RELAX. Freshman year is fun as fuck. Just enjoy it mate

Sincerely,

Non target at an EB who couldn't give less of a fuck about the alphabet soup of clubs at every Uni

Honestly I want to, but I feel so behind. There’s people at my target who interned at a PE firm/ Hedgefund before coming to college and it is making me panic a hella lot.

Alright, last piece of advice then I am going to start drinking beer while waiting for comments...the best advice I ever got in Uni was "have headlights and blinders". Don't listen to what other people in your class say re how great they are and how ahead they are and don't look at them as an indicator of success or failure. We all have our own paths. I had the same shit with people having MF PE internships coming into college bc daddy was a partner. That's just life. My family didn't have two nickels to rub together, let alone a nepo MF PE internship for me. Focus on your own lane. Find what you enjoy. Work hard, be good at what you like, craft a compelling story, and you will be fine. You are in a good spot at a target with one club. Think about it on a national scale you are probably top 2% of students in America just to be at a target on WSO. Have some perspective and humility. Take a breath, and figure out your own path. Fuck what anyone else thinks or is doing. Its your life, why be influenced by them?

Okay, beer time. Best of luck mate.
