Past Internship Experience

Last Summer I interned in the Commercial Loan Administrations Dept. at a fairly large Commercial Bank. Basically I helped credit analysts and loan officers in any way possible (financial statements, client interaction). How would this experience be viewed by potential IBank recruiters.

I've gotten some phone interviews. They probably could have been in person, but I'm at school right now, and like you said recruiting season is all but over so they are not coming out, and I'm not flying in.

Commercial banking usually will not be a good/relevant experience unless you are doing something related to commercial loans, etc. In terms of ibd, it will have little weight, much like other unrelated financial fields like pwm. On the other hand, many people do get internships without past experience, as everybody has to start somewhere. What year are you, and what are you looking to do this summer? Seems like any advice you are looking for would be most appropriate if you gave an idea of yourself.

I'm a soph. at a public target. Right now, I'm looking for anything in IBD, but ultimately by the time I graduate I would like to secure a FT position in M & A
