Past time activity to keep engagement levels up

So a little background...I strive to always keep busy or to push myself for the 'next big life event' in my life. This has always been an upwards battle in terms of getting into undergrad business school, high GPA, landing an IB position, fitness, gf, etc. However, on occasion I always find myself running into downturn periods where I meet all of my short-term goals and am left perplexed as to what next?

These periods tend to only last a week or two at most but there is a drastic downturn in my productivity levels as I often find myself clocking more Netflix hours than usual. I try to do other hobbies or activities to keep myself busy in the meantime but they are often not long-lasted as I typically achieve them as well. Examples of this include: playing chess (reached 1400 then called it quits), listening to podcasts (found a series I liked and listened to all 900 episodes), buying books (reading them with a really fast turn around time). Although I find myself enjoying books more and more so I believe I will string a continuation of this hobby.

I was wondering what are some kind of long term activities/hobbies that people typically enjoy doing when perhaps they aren't as busy with school or work? I tried to pick up coding but it just wasn't as interesting as I initially imagined, but I would consider picking it back up if some people find it helps keep them engaged or whatnot. Would love to hear other people's thoughts/ideas.

~Cheers!

One thing I have come to appreciate more and more is rather than doing things to stay "busy" or productive, doing things that allow me to be grounded in the moment is dope. We always look ahead to the next big things in life which can be helpful to stay motivated sometimes (eg. fun weekend plans, getting that job, etc), but that can also not be helpful. I know you asked about cool hobbies or things people do that keep them busy which I'm also curious to hear from others, but thought I'd say don't look ahead in life too much. Obviously it's important to have a plan and what not, but go out, have fun, don't take life that seriously and always be grounded in the present because that's all you can control

Focus on the present via meditation. The "Waking Up' App on iPhone is the best meditation course I could find and highly recommend it. Sam Harris (the guy who created the course) talks about exactly what you are describing

Learning a new language maybe? I still have a week left in my semester but my next one is my last one before I start FT so it'll be easy and I'm gonna spend it learning a language, working out, and just enjoying my time with friends before we all graduate
