Patak Trading Partners

Does anyone have any information regarding Patak Trading Partners. They have this "combine" system in which they give you an account to play with using their programs to test the new recruits to see how well they trade. Has anyone done something like this? I'm starting to think it may be some kind of scam?

Thanks.

The filters are being stupid and not letting me link to the thread, but if you do a search for it, there's a thread about them here. In short, kind of scammish, but it is possible to learn a lot.

its basically a scam.... no one actually knows whether they actually provide you capital if you pass their test... they say they will put you in contact with firms that are looking to hire. The reason you pay $100 isn't to "have the stress of putting real money on the line" as they say.

Also notice on the other thread that all the favorable replies are people with 2 posts... self advertisement anyone?

So, I guess that I'll stay away for now. I was mostly interested with the intention to learn and gain some experience in markets. I couldn't care less if they actually hired me.

Thanks for the input

Like i have said in the other thread. I did it and learned a lot. I didnt make enough to get hired but they have a cool chatroom where you can talk to everyone else in the program and also the people they have taken live. I got to know through the chat some of the guys pretty well. It was just an added bonus because I wasnt too interested in getting hired by them in the end but if you are wondering, a couple guys went from being in the Combine to being given a $50,000 trading account while I was in the program. Guys I had gotten to know through the chat. so ya i think its legit you get capital if they hire you. Only I think they are pretty strict on letting you go if you lose money even after you are hired. They dont mess around or give many second chances. I know one of the live guys got fired when I was doing the Combine. He had just gotten a live account and lost quite a bit of money from my understanding and they just cut him.

It depends what you are looking for. Its actually a legit firm. I friend of mine did their simulator and I work down at the CBOT in Chicago. They are new, but they hire traders and put up all the capital. Hope that helps. Im thinking about doing their simulator myself. If I get hired by them great, but Im definitely going to do it before I apply to be a trader at some of the other firms Im looking at. Just for the experience. Currently I work at CBOT but not as trader. Ive been here about a year and hope to start trading soon. Was pretty nervous about it but after I do the simulator I think I will be put much more at ease. Thats what I get from my friends experience at least. Ill try to post back after I finish it.

I just started the one week practice program. I paid $25 and have downloaded the software and done simulated trading for two days now. I have done simulated trading through other brokers for several years and this is the best trading software I've seen yet in this area. I think they said if you can meet the $1,500 (simulated) profit quota in the first week, you can do the $80 Combine program for free (not sure about that though). I can't vouch 100 percent for the part about them hiring you as a real money trader if you pass the Combine program because I haven't gotten that far yet. But, I am impressed with what I have seen so far. I agree with others who have posted here that most brokers/trading firms, etc give no credence to simulated trading results. Many simulator programs are even intentionally rigged with deceptive little tricks like not deducting commissions/exchange fees from your P&L, not enforcing margin limits, even giving you incorrect fill prices (to make a trade appear profitable as soon as it is placed). But, as for some concerns that this could be a scam, I can tell you that being able to test drive their trading software for a week is well worth the $25 I paid. I intend to continue on to the Combine program when I'm done with the one week test demo. I would definitely recommend this program to any aspiring futures trader.

Don't understand why you paid the 25 bucks for the software as you can have it for free (2 weeks) on the cts website !?

I actually think it's better for the community to keep these threads. The Patak dummy account posts provide more proof it is a scam than anyone else's posts ever could.

First, I am not an employee or paid spokesman of Patak. I am a customer who is doing the one week demo program as stated in my earlier post.

I was doing paid simulated trading through another broker, paying via automated monthly debit card payment. They canceled my account, assigned it to someone else and continued to bill me for it until I complained, then refunded only less than half what they had over billed me saying "the system" doesn't allow them to issue refunds for over-billings over 90 days old. So, Patak is no more of a scam than anything else out there.

As for the postings calling Patak a scam, please provide some PROOF if you have any rather than simple speculation that it LOOKS like a scam because no other brokers offer this program. Either provide some verifiable facts or don't post here.

I did three combines. I never made enough to "go live". I wouldn't call it a scam. However, they have been raising their prices aggressively. The four week combine went from 80 to 100 to 120 dollars between November and March. This is a 50% increase in four months. There is no discount for existing customers. It is an informative and educational program. You will definitely learn a lot if you do one combine, more if you do more than one. However, it is becoming cost prohibitive to continue. There are other simulators available for less than half what they are charging.

Don't know why anyone is paying for live simulator as a lot of provider would be happy to give you a 1 week or two free trial !!!
