People who used to be undiagnosed ADHD - Did getting medicated help?

I've been recommended multiple times to get a diagnosis but always refused due to my parents and now I'm struggling in both school and recruiting. I think the stress from the past few months has definitely exacerbated what was there before. Those of you who used to be undiagnosed, did getting medication help you in any way?

Fellow adhd haver who is recruiting…god it’s hard. I’m in the same struggle bus with you. I’ve never felt worse about myself in my life. I can’t really answer your question , but if you’re struggling, why not at least try?

Unlike other mental illnesses there’s next to no debate about the efficacy of ADHD meds. There are other concerns but that’s not one of them. Most of those concerns can be remedied by taking a non stimulant though. However, I will warn you that diagnosis is not a fast process. If you have even a thought of doing it, I’d figure it out fast. It takes 3-6 months at max for some people, others who have more clear cut cases can get diagnosed faster.

We can do this!

Nice to know I'm not alone haha. I honestly wasn't expecting recruiting timelines this early so it's been absolutely rough. About how long would it take to get a psych to diagnose me? I talked to my school health center and they weren't the most helpful. I'm currently looking into my local clinic to see what options they have.
