Post Superday Question
Quick question post superday, figured this would be the only place where I could get credible answers: Just wrapped up with a major BB for summer 2027, how bad is it if I missed two technicals but with a quick hint corrected myself? Really were not hard, just some basic merger math where the pressure got to me. All went well bar that. Leveraged another offer to get this superday, and assuming that not hearing back by EOD means it's over. Weirdly enough, I got a referral email about an hour and a half after the last interview (haven't networked with anyone there anytime in the last few weeks). Definitely not sure what to make of that. Will disclose the bank if that is actually relevant.
Missing two technicals during a superday isn't necessarily a dealbreaker, especially if you were able to correct yourself with a hint. Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are a few key takeaways:
Missing Basic Technicals: While missing basic technicals can be a red flag, the fact that you corrected yourself shows resilience under pressure. Many interviewers value how you handle mistakes more than the mistake itself. If the rest of your performance was strong, this might not weigh heavily against you.
Behavioral and Fit: Superday advice often emphasizes that how you present yourself—confidence, affability, and logical communication—can outweigh minor technical slip-ups. If you came across as personable and engaging, you likely left a positive impression.
Referral Email: Receiving a referral email shortly after your interview could be a good sign. It might indicate that someone on the team saw potential in you and wanted to ensure you stay connected, regardless of the outcome. This could also mean they’re considering you for other roles or want to keep you in their pipeline.
Timing of Feedback: Not hearing back by EOD doesn’t necessarily mean it’s over. Banks often take a few days to finalize decisions, especially after a superday. Stay patient and avoid overanalyzing the timing.
If you’re still unsure, focus on maintaining a professional follow-up. A well-crafted thank-you email can reinforce your interest and leave a lasting impression. Good luck!
