Potentially moving Start Date

Slated to work at a buyside firm this July, but HR has moved the start date to late August, which is clutch. However, they’re also offering a January 2024 option where I can start in the same city and do the same training program, just with a 6 month break after graduation.

I could use this time to study for the GRE/GMAT, travel, and just get in the right headspace before the grind. Would I be at a disadvantage or seen differently if I choose this option? What else should I be considering as I make this decision?
