Way too many people reaching out to Product groups, who may have separate recruiting processes, but expressing interest in generalist IB programs. Do your homework and reach to network with people relevant to the program you are applying to / interested in.

to be fair to students, its difficult to tell on LinkedIn what group someone is in, especially if they're insecure but put "IB" analyst despite being in some obscure financing group that isn't really IBD
Then why even email that person? If you don’t even know what group they’re in, then chances are you’re going to have to send an extremely generic message they won’t even respond to.
