Putting modified GPA on resume - stupid or no?

Say my GPA is around the "meh" range that's in the top 15-20% of my class at a target, but my GPA in finance, accounting and economics classes is much higher.

Should I put something like this on my resume?

3.95/4.00 GPA (Finance, Accounting & Economic Courses), 3.68/4.00 Culumative GPA

Not my exact GPA for anonymity, but close enough range (from a meh/borderline cutoff to a impressive GPA)

My thinking is that it'll get me some initial screenings because of the stronger first impression my adjusted GPA gives but will get me dinged by others for being an absolute idiot (in their eyes)

No you absolutely cannot pro-forma your GPA to only show your best classes LOL

If you have a major GPA that is on your transcript, or easily/clearly calculated based on a public list of classes in your major, fine. But you cannot just cherrypick classes. Also even major GPA is heavily discounted and no one is going to be wowed by a 3.95 major GPA, people don't really care about it and just go to the cumulative GPA since everyone else uses it

Also 3.68 is fine... Just round up to 3.7/4.0 if you are worried but that will not be a problem for recruiting

It's the most "relevant" classes for finance though, they just also happen to be my best, I've seen some hardos on LinkedIn put "Finance & Accounting Classes GPA" on their profiles

Haven't been getting much first rounds with my cumulative, not sure if it's because of weakness in other parts of my resume though

Regardless I think it's worth the risk of getting dinged/judged/seen as an idiot by some and making a way better first impression by others

You probably aren’t getting first rounds because you come off as a weenie

You can absolutely put a major GPA, have seen it quite often on resumes from people we interview and accepted.

If you’re a 4.0 finance student but didn’t do well in literature or science, hence the 3.7, then putting 4.0 finance major gpa and 3.7 cumulative is fine

You have a strong cumulative gpa, 3.7 is usually enough to graduate with Latin honors at most schools

If you have all As in your finance classes, put the 4.0 for your major gpa. I’ve also seen people have 4.0 for finance + accounting double major gpa, otherwise include all your classes into your cumulative, don’t just cherry pick a few here and there
