Q&A Summer intern at EB that did not get a return offer

Since the last Q&A on this topic was a mess and it seems like people were interested in it I figured I would help out. I got the news that I would not be asked to return to the EB I was at this summer. Figured I would try to make some good out of it and help out any prospective interns that may have had questions. I don't intend on going back into IB so I can be pretty candid about the summer details wise.

Thanks for posting. Looking back on the internship, can you pinpoint the reasons why you weren't a good fit for the job? I am also curious about your background -- major, target/non-target, previous experience etc.

What did you dislike in order to have no intention of returning to IB? Have you thought about trying consulting or seems similar?

what's your next steps - completely out of Finance, startups, or working for corporations that are part of the industry you covered for (if coverage group) during the summer?
