Question regarding background check

Incoming SA at a BB. On my resume, while recruiting I had a position for Summer 2020 where I wrote the name of the company and the position and then wrote: "Cancelled due to COVID-19". No one asked me about it during interviews and I landed a subsequent offer for SA 2021. The only problem is the position was unofficial when it got canceled because I circled back with my contact at the firm and he said now they won't be able to have me as an intern due to COVID and wfh etc (before I signed any paperwork etc.). Now, the guy who got me the internship isn't there at the firm anymore. So, I am worried that this might be a problem in the background check.

Am I overthinking this or is this a cause for concern?

I wouldn't sweat it. The fact that the internship was cancelled they likely wouldn't even follow up with that employer, since you have no employment history. They also have to ask your permission to conduct a background check, did you grant them permission to speak to that cancelled employer? You'd also be surprised how many places don't really even bother with the background checks.

Gotcha, I haven't received the background check forms yet but I imagine when they ask me to write down all the previous internships, I can just not write it down given it technically wasn't work experience and was there just for informational use. Given that the background check process hasn't started yet, I have not needed to grant permission to speak to that employer.
