Question regarding HR at BB

Hi,

HR sends an email asking SA's to attend a "focus group" within their first few days at a BB. They say that they will contact managers to let them know that we will be attending these groups.

Is it more important
1)To go to such a group and not "annoy" HR, or
2)Not go to such a group considering it is the first couple of days at work, and leaving early within these first few days may give a negative sign to your managers.

Thanks so much for your help.

it's important to participate in things like that. that may mean, of course, that you'll have to stay until 3 (as opposed to 1) to finish your work; however, if you can't handle that, you'll never make it for a 2 year stint.

Definitely ask your manager. When you ask, make it sound like you would rather stay at work seeing it is so early on in your role.

(s)he may say, no no.. it's important to attend. Or may say to stay.. either way you've played it the safe way.

BSD123, thanks for the reply

The only problem is - I have no idea who my manager is yet, since I have not even started.

Is the safer option, in this case, rather not to go? They want a response before we start the internship of whether we are going to go or not.

safer to opt out. Then if you feel like mentioning it in passing your first day, I'm sure they'd still take you in the focus group if you're told to go.
