Reasonable Alternatives to IB out of undergrad?

I'm a sophomore at a semi-target and am approaching full-time recruiting for IB. While it seems like everyone is gunning for it, I feel like I might be going in it for the wrong reasons. I'm not interested in PE, rather I want to do some sort of public markets / investing role long term. I'm not interested in the salesy portion of finance. Long term I could see myself happy in some sort of LO AM perhaps, but is IB necessary to get there?

I don't want to pull 80 hrs / week if I don't have to, since I'm not interested in PE and this seems to be what most people are shooting for after IB. Something like equity research comes to mind but its hard to break into as there is no formal recruiting cycle.

Is there some sort of job comparable to IB in terms of the skillset you train where you perhaps work slightly fewer hours? I'm alright with 60-70hrs / week, but none of the horror stories you hear in IB.
