recent ‘’disorderly person” charge FINRA

I currently work in finance and have worked in this industry for over 15 years and I made a stupid mistake while in NJ and got caught switching price tags on an item. I received a “disorderly persons” charge. I know I have to report this to FINRA and I will probably lose my current job. I live and work in Florida but have a lawyer working on the case in NJ. He assured me he can get the case dismissed and esponged but have I just ruined my chances of ever working in finance again? I don’t know what to do. I contemplated putting my two weeks in at my current job and then reporting to FINRA so at least it doesn’t look like I was fired...I don’t know what to do. I’m scared I just ruined my life and my families.
