Recruitment Cocktail (First Round Selected Participants)

Got invited to a cocktail at established boutique. I’ve been told this is how they do their first round interviews (pure behavioral). Only a dozen or so candidates have been selected and after the cocktail the face to face sit down interviews begin.

What should I avoid doing at this cocktail?
- I feel like its best to avoid talking about work/deals/market stuff, what do you guy’s think of this? I believe just talking to everyone casually may be the best approach.

No, I meant to say that the cocktail party is essential a form of first round. Application deadlines were a while ago and selected applicants got invited to the cocktail party. From there, those chosen will do a face to face sit down interview
