Referral Process for IB

Hi Everyone!

I’m curious as to what happens on the other end of the line after you finish up a networking call with a banker. I have heard that some groups limit the number of kids the bankers can refer for interviews, while I have heard that if they like you they can pass you along no problem. As interview season is upon us, I just wanted to get a sense of how I could expect things to shake out in terms of getting my resume passed along. I’m also at a non-target, so I know this is pretty much the only way I will get a chance. If possible I would appreciate any insight on the west coast, specifically for tech groups in the SF/Bay Area.

Thanks and stay healthy out there!

My HR team told me I can pass along 2-3 resumes of the best candidates I've spoken to from schools the bank doesn't target. Tough for me to tell how much pull an analyst has when it comes to non-target, but I'm guessing if multiple analysts across the firm "pass your resume" it will help.

I'm NYC based - so no real insight into SF opportunities besides I'd imagine it's less rigid and getting your resume passed might hold more weight since those teams tend to look for more cultural fits
