RIP in Peace CS

Now that the merger has officially closed and CS has ceased to exist as a legal entity, curious about this forums thoughts about which players will step into the void in the next 5/10 years. Obviously just because UBS inherited the headcount and Santander bought a few teams it doesn’t automatically make either the BB that CS once was. Is Jeff next man up on the Mt. Rushmore of IB? WF? Gugg? Dare I say, RBC??

Void as in there has always been ~8 BBs and now there are ~7 so inevitably there’s a slot for an additional, not like I’m in emotional pain I’m just curious who’s next man up

UBS has just replaced CS as the other mid-tier European BB. It's not that deep, there's no UBS replacement as a lower-tier BB. UBS combined is just now a behemoth in WM and given that they want to have their wealth clients also interact with their IB division, it will naturally mean more deal flow. UBS already finished above Barclays globally for IBD M&A revenue and is only 1 place below them this year, they are roughly the same tier now. This is not currently the case for NA yet on league tables for this year (but is the case already in EMEA and APAC), but with the new UBS hires and loss of Lehman MDs at Barclays, they should be competitive with Barclays at least within these next 2-3 years at most.

Ye no, am not at UBS which is great for me. That firm is firing more people than anyone else, so not exactly a good spot to be an AN1 in. I am at another and better BB though.
