Segments of restructuring

What’s the difference between the restricting work that a firm like FTI/A&M/Alix does versus the restructuring work that a bank like Lazard/Evercore/HL do? I saw that FTI worked with Lazard during the Peabody Coal restructure but don’t know what the different parts they played were.
