Shoes for walking to work

What does everyone use when walking to work? Whether it be to the subway and then a short walk to work, or if you live close enough to walk to the whole way. Is it okay to come into the office wearing gym shoes and have a nice pair in my bag/under my desk?

i wear a bright red pair of nikes to work. I'm serious.

I have a pair of dress shoes in my desk drawers (which I lock since I don't trust other analysts/associates) and I switch into them when I get to work.

Yellow and green new balances on the weekends.

The world has changed. And we must change with it.

------------ I'm making it up as I go along.

any guys here doing jpm corp challenge?

yeah... not sure which day yet though.

This year I'm going to actually show up on time instead of having to move against a stampede of bankers in the opposite direction.

@ the OP, I just wear my dress shoes. Like others have said, they are my most comfortable shoes. But on occasion I've worn sneakers and just changed when I got there... just realize that you'll look incredibly awkward in a suit and bright sneakers.

i have handmade shoes and they are comfortable as shit. my advice to anyone, if you are ever in an emerging market, load up on work attire. oh but do your research before hand because the gap between good and bad is subtle but huge. or just plain huge. xoxo

I keep a pair of freshly shined cap toes at work, and usually rock whatever loafer I feel like wearing. Ill seldom change shoes at work unless I'm meeting clients, in which case if Im not already wearing cap toes from home, I'll change into the spare pair I have.

As for winter, get a nice pair of slicks, but not the ridiculous door-to-door insurance salesman ones that are supposed to look like shoes. They have some at Saks, I forget the brand. I keep a pair at work and a pair at home. Anyone who tells you you're a dbag for wearing them, obviously doesn't wear very nice shoes. Or they're rocking the black Reeboks (the ones the guy running the Bagel/Coffee stall wears) on the way to work. http://www.champssports.com/images/products/large_w/50190_w.jpg

There's a lot of you out there with the "I'm a manly man, I wear Deer Stags from Wal-Mart, don't need anything for rain or snow, and hunt wildebeest with my bare hands." To you I say, this is Wall Street, not a construction site, a blue collar mentality doesn't get you anymore brownie points than a blue blood mentality, so long as you have the same work ethic.
