Should I Follow Up Again?

So I've been networking with ppl trying to get a SA position (for 2024) as a current sophomore.

I talked to a person I knew through a mutual acquaintance at a PE firm over the phone, and he asked me to send over his resume and a cover letter. He said he'd reach out again if the company wants a summer analyst and if I fit the position.
So a month goes by and haven't heard from him, so I sent an email again a few days ago asking if there were any updates (with the proper etiquette ofc). Well he hasn't responded, so my hopes went down a lot since I think I had a bit too high expectations. This might be a way of implying that I'm rejected, but I'm hoping maybe he hasn't seen the email or something.

Idk, should I follow up again when a week passes, or should I just take the L? :(

Try to ask for an in-person meeting saying something like I was in the area and wanted to catch up talk about xyz (not recruiting per se) subject, choose a sub of mutual interest… it’s a way of reading the situation better
