Should I Include Referrers' Info After They Forwarded My Résumé to HR on Workday??

I have a question about the application process and could use some advice.

Two people from different teams mentioned they forwarded my résumé to HR. The issue is that I had already applied for one of the roles before I spoke with them. Now that I'm applying for a second role, I’m not sure if I need to include their names or email addresses in the "What's their name or email address?" field when prompted during the application.

Since both of them have already forwarded my résumé, I’m confused about whether I should add their details to my applications or not. Also, should I withdraw my original application and re-submit it with their info, or just leave it as is? Both positions are analyst-level roles on different teams, and I’m applying through Workday.

Any guidance on how to handle this would be really helpful! Thanks!

edit: also dont want to seem dumb, because this conversation was like 2 weeks ago and am making the change now /applying to the other one now, so just worried if i put their email now they might get a email or might seem dumb?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here’s what you need to know:

  1. Including Referrers' Info:

    • If you have already applied for one role and are now applying for a second role, it is generally a good idea to include the names or email addresses of the people who referred you in the "What's their name or email address?" field. This helps ensure that your application is flagged for special attention by HR.
  2. Handling Multiple Applications:

    • Since you have already applied for one role before speaking with the referrers, you do not necessarily need to withdraw your original application. Instead, you can email the referrers to inform them about your initial application and ask if they can notify HR about their referral for that specific role as well.
  3. Timing and Perception:

    • Given that the conversation with the referrers happened two weeks ago, it is still appropriate to include their information now. If you are concerned about seeming "dumb" or causing confusion, you can send a polite follow-up email to the referrers, thanking them again for their support and informing them that you have included their details in your new application.
  4. Sample Email to Referrers:

    • Here’s a template you can use to communicate with your referrers:

Hello [Referrer's Name], I hope you're doing well! Thank you again for forwarding my résumé to HR for the [First Role] position. I wanted to let you know that I have also applied for another analyst-level role within the company. I have included your name/email in the referral section of my application. If possible, could you kindly inform HR about your referral for this new application as well? I believe your support will significantly enhance my chances. Thank you once again for your assistance! Best regards, [Your Name]

By following these steps, you can ensure that your applications are properly flagged and that your referrers are kept in the loop, enhancing your chances of securing an interview.
