Should You Email "Thank You" To HR People You Met During Superday?
Ok, this might be a dumb question, but should you email "thank you" to the HR people you met during the superday? I'm composing all the superday emails now, and not sure if it's appropriate to email the HR people as well.
Any thoughts on this? What have you guys tried?
No point, HR has no say in decision making. Thank you emails in general don't help either, but they also don't hurt.
It won't hurt and it surely wouldn't take any additional effort
Smarter shops take notice of how you treat "staff"; it's a better reflection of your personality than how you treat "line" workers. Thanking HR would be a smart move.
Agree with Burke. Plus, at some offices, HR leads the debrief session on candidates that come in and have the ability to sway conversation one way or another.
If you haven't sent them out yet, do it soon. They must have met so many candidates, so it is a good reminder for them. And you never know whether they have a say.
Keep it short and genuine. Don't try to sell too much. Keep it natural.
You never know who/what has a say in the hiring process. Firms/teams all value different things and can structure the interview process around that. For example - http://www.businessinsider.com/zappos-sneaky-strategy-for-hiring-the-be…
A personal story I know of is an MD who would ask the receptionist/doorman of the building how the interviewee treated them.
I believe it sets a positive tone and voice to the prospective company/firm that you are applying for. I have received call backs for certain non-finance related roles given the applicant pool was roughly 300+ people.
Good luck!
Can say from personal experience that this does help.
Send a thank you email to everyone you met or interviewed with. While thank you emails offer no benefit to YOU, by not sending thank you emails you are running a (small) risk that someone sees it as a sign of disrespect and dings you. Why take that risk?
No. In fact, take a picture of your shit and email it to them.
Wait, better yet MAIL them a box of DOG SHIT. Send an expensive Thank you card with it that has the THANK crossed out and FUCK written in.
Sometimes I question the massive negative consequences WSO may be having on the world by helping people with no common sense (or social skills) along their trajectory to positions of power (potentially). Then I remember a) that I am one of those dumb schmucks and b) the peers (read, "competition") of my generation and I ignore the implications completely.
Ok, this is what happens in real world: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-34143079
So yeah....
