SIE help
I know it's not a big achievement but I just took it and passed after having spent quite a bit of time being pretty stressed about it. I don’t come from a finance background so I didn’t know what much of these topics were beforehand. If anyone is about to take it or is in a similar boat I want to help alleviate any stress/questions you may feel/have.
Hey man, huge achievement. I really respect that. I've been having a hell of a time with this test, the concepts are just so confusing. Can you clear up this question from my practice test for me? I can tell you're a genius.
Q: If your client is an executive at Public Company A and gives you inside information, what should you do?
A) Take a shit on the floor
B) Trade on inside information
C) Call your non-registered friend to trade on the inside information for you
D) Don't trade on inside information
Depends, if diarrhea then A.
what were you scoring on the knopman practice tests?
My baseline assessment was 46%
I then read through the book and then scored 58%
I then watched all videos and scored 56% (I don’t know what happened here)
I then read the Key Concepts and scored 66%
I then just grinded questions and revisited everything I was getting wrong and then got a 74% on Diagnostic Exam 1
Did more questions and then got a 90% on Diagnostic Exam 2
I was then hitting consistently in the 75-85% range and took it
Adding to this, I will say I found Knopman questions to be similar in difficultly to the real exam. I know a lot of people say otherwise, but that’s just from my experience.
Oh the trauma
Why the hell did we need to learn about brokerage accounts?? I'm an investment banker smh
What was your schedule like when studying? Would be great to hear a break down! I’m an Econ major and taking two finance classes to get more familiar with stuff.
I got serious about the exam about 3-4 weeks before taking it. I read a chapter a night which took 2 weeks, then I watched the videos in about 3-5 days (could’ve spent longer here). I then spent the last few days (4-6) on questions. Every question I got wrong I would write down and review a couple of times throughout the day. The day before the exam I watched specific parts of the videos I was having a harder time with and then ran through the key concepts again.
I felt pretty well, I went through the whole test and flagged about 20 questions for review, then revisited them and guessed on maybe 3-5 questions. I used about 1 hour of the allotted test time.
Looking back I think watching the videos and then reading the book would have been better just because if you have no baseline in the information, the book is like drinking from a fire hose.
I posted a thread on this which is helpful

Do you suggest doing chapter q-banks right after you do the chapter lecture, or do you suggest waiting until after watching all of them.
