Sleep Deprivation and Sociability?

Normally, when I have 8+ hours of sleep, I have pretty good social skills.

At 6 hours they've deteriorated. At 4 or less...you can imagine.

How do you banking analysts/associates manage to be 'sociable' (smiling, bright eyed, energetic voice) around senior bankers when you're exhausted?

No one will be expecting for you to be sociable, smiling, bright-eyed and energetic past your second week, Prospective Buffoon. You displaying any of those attributes == you do not have nearly enough work/ you are the most annoying person in the twelve-cubicle vicinity.

This does not apply to the post-MBA Associates who wee-wee-wee all the way home once the almighty seniors depart in order to "take care of an emergency" (ie Neti Pot their noses, recite motivational mantras in front of a reflective surface, further develop their deep quantitative knowledge by putting in some time with their little tikes® MyFirstCalculator and/or sleep). These creatures shall forever be bright-eyed and energetic (WOW I AM SO CRAZY BUSY MY HIGHLIGHTER RAN OUT OF INK I THINK I HAVE CARPAL TUNNEL OMG LOOK AT ME ADMINISTERING BUSINESS) and not even an endless loop of REM cycles could help to bolster their social skills.

Drink triple shot coffee, red bull, or whatever you need. Always look sharp when seniors around. Is not that essential in this business? - a show business.
