Thanks for the answer, really dont care about NYC tbh, mostly Chicago but Houston would be good. I grew up in chicago from like 1-9 so thats my main goal.

-how would recruiting for chicago be?

-heard houston is geniunely a cake-walk, is this true?

-is alts just based on grades and being in some frat?

-finnaly I have to oppurtunity to go work or intern(idk about money) at a local oil company, should I?

Thanks man...

Look at LinkedIn profiles of juniors at the company you want to work at. Try to make your resume look like theirs and network heavily. People break in from everywhere

- Chicago will recruit heavily from midwest targets/semi targets, you should prioritize those schools if you want to be there. I would say NYC may be easier than Chicago from a school that is a target for a different region... unless your parents still live there/you went to a local high school, they may question your ties there

- IB is never a cakewalk but strong GPA, networking, early internships and being personable will make it more likely

- You have to interview for alts so be ready on technicals and "network" if you can

- high school internships don't matter so I'd say whatever for right now, but this sounds great for freshman summer or freshman semesters if it's local. Even if unpaid. Houston will love this, Chicago may see it as a sign you are recruiting for Houston and it may hurt you a bit for those banks

Can get interviews at basically any O&G shop in Houston, very strong pipeline to there. A few kids every year will go to NYC but definitely more difficult. Seems like the competitiveness and brand of the school is getting better each year. ALTs is also a very helpful program, keep GPA above a 3.7 and study technicals and you will be fine.
