So am I fucked?

I’m a freshman going to a small non-targeted college in south Florida. Have pretty much no contacts in the finance world. Just asking for some ideas what I should try and do.

My plan is to try and transfer after my two years and try to get in to a better University. Also what would be the best way to network for someone like me? Should I use LinkedIn, or maybe I should email as may people I can? Just want any suggestions. Any help would be so appreciated.

You are a freshman, there is plenty you can do!

Start putting in the work: study, get good grades, transfer, get some fun and interesting leadership or extracurricular experience, start networking and apply for any internship you can for the next summer.

Don't just spam people on Linkedin though, you should always personalize your messages. Plenty of threads on here on how to do it.

Good luck!

Bro...

You're never fucked. Slow down. Take chill pill.

breathe in (HOLD 1,2,3) and breathe outttttt (1,2,3)

Take a chill time getting adjusted to college your first year.

Now that you're not thinking that you are fucked, evaluate your situation. Where do the top people from my school go (hint: some of them probably are getting jobs in finance). If it seems too hard, or it feels like it might be too difficult, make an informed decision after your first semester either to try to transfer or stay.

During that first semester, get a 4.0 GPA, make good connections with your professors, and join some clubs. Even consider taking up research. If you have great grades, and a great reason for wanting to transfer, ad-coms will take your application very seriously.

If you do choose to transfer, though, make sure you choose a place that exits well into finance, even if this is not a large target. It's why you would want to transfer, so choose a place that will reward your efforts.

Make sure you transfer after your freshman year - not after two years. OCR starts sophomore spring so you want to have transferred by then.

If you were a senior saying this than maybe.

But you could easily still land your dream job and more without transferring. Keep your head up and know your already ahead of most
