Summer Intern Background Check

I'm an incoming summer intern at a US BB, and have a question about the background check process.

I have a potential out-of-country travel plan in May, but I have not heard from the firm about the background check yet. I'm concerned that some parts of the bg check have to be done in the U.S. (like fingerprint collection).

Could anyone who has gone through a similar experience share their insights on whether I need to be physically present in the U.S. for any part of the background check? Is there a possibility that I might need to cancel or postpone my travel plans to ensure I complete the background check on time? Obviously I don't want to risk the internship, so just want to make sure before I book the flights.

Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.

They usually ask for fingerprints under pretty tight deadlines so be mindful of that. You typically have to go to a location of their choosing.
