superday: waitlisted?
Hi, if HR says that they are counting # of analysts for next year and will come back with a decision soon. How would you interpret this?

They want a finalized headcount before they extend any more offers. If you have other offers, let them know they're your top choice but you have other deadlines. Otherwise, sit back and wait.
Thank you! If they liked you a lot, can they squeeze one more analyst in? How do they even make a decision? Assuming interview went well (everyone wanted you on board)
How do you know everyone wanted you on board? How do you know everyone didn't want someone else on board more? If their limit is X analysts, it's X analysts, not X+1. If you have a super strong tie to someone senior, maybe they can pull strings. You're asking rhetorical questions, though.
Good point. Can go either way
Def. But feel confident that it must've gone well, since they told you about counting analysts rather than rejecting you. Keep on the grind and you'll land something if this doesn't play out. Best of luck.
Happened to me when I was recruiting, basically, it means you aren't qualified enough for an immediate offer, so we are going to roll your application forward until we finish our interviews and then decide so we can cover our own ass
Waitlisted for superday? (Originally Posted: 01/24/2012)
So I interviewed with a MM bank yesterday and they just called me back saying I was waitlisted for superday. I know there are waitlists after final rounds but have never heard of waitlists after 1st rounds. Has anyone seen this before?
It sounds like you're an alternate for superday.
yeah that's what i meant, just edited to clarify
