Tax Filing Questions

Few quick questions from a first time tax filer.

What would be the easiest way to file taxes for my summer analyst pay (Under 10k)?

I worked in Jersey City, but put a NY resident because that is where I wanted my filings sent to as I go to school in NY. However, my main residence/family's residence is in another state, should I keep it as a NY resident?

Also, considering that I was taxed NY/NJ/Federal tax, what should I be expecting to get back?

Thanks!

Anything I should be doing to maximize my refund? As little as it may be? I've heard of deducting job search/education expenses
