Thoughts on Jefferies?
Any insight on top groups? How’s the culture for juniors? I’m interested in learning about their analyst program

Jefferies is a huge firm… need to be more specific here. All groups within each bank are different.
Makes sense. Any idea what the top groups are? ie How are TMT and business services
Their LevFin team is one of their best groups, along with Tech and HC. Also, the Private Capital Advisory team there is top of the street for GP-led Secondaries along with EVR and PJT (Park Hill). Culture is very group dependent from what it seems.
I work at Jeff.Culture is group dependent, but everyone wants to get things done. Some groups are more laid back than others, but everyone is generally friendly so long as you aren't too bad at the job.All groups are growing like crazy. Strong inflow of senior lateral hires (EVR, GH, Piper, CS to name a few), transaction sizes keep increasing, for what one can say about Rich Handler, he does know how to run a bank. Mandates are leaning towards larger deal transactions, with higher frequency of deals >1bn then the past few years. Strong coverage relations allow product groups to really expand. M&A's MD's have strong connections with Sponsors. We can also offer staple financing, as our relationship with Mass Mutual allows us to have a pretty decently sized balance sheet. To Echo some top groups: M&A, HC, LevFin, Tech, PCA (PCA is in the top 3 on the street), Industrials. But honestly? All the groups are impeccable. PUI is pretty cool, they've worked on mandates for Crypto-mining platforms. RX (While still having UCC mandates, since one of the MD's is pretty much the best in the field in the UCC) are now diversifying into more Distressed M&A and debtor deals, as well as other creditor classes. TES is exploding, and FIG has a huge initiative behind them from the company to expand.Exits are nicely fitted into the UMM/MM PE/PC, Hedgefunds, Equity Research, Corp Dev, Real Estate InvestingI'm having a blast. Also all of their events for some reason have waffle fries. Their cafeteria has a sushi bar.
Incoming SA here and curious: What do perks look like for you guys in terms of ubers/meal stipends? How much does lunch cost at the cafeteria generally? Did they also give you things when you started (PC, bag, etc)?
25 for dinners, but just get the lunch and save it for dinner. Their salads are nice. Lunch is free. They give you a bag, personal computer, and enough work to sleep at the office.
Waffle fries for the fucking W
Top groups from what I have seen in the past were M&A, HC (scandals aside), restructuring, levfin, etc
juniors seem to have a good experience but my guess is most may leave after a little bit there to like 2-3 years as is typical across the street
Echoing above comment plus would suggest following Rich Handler across social media. Culture starts at the top is generally applicable in the industry so getting to know him / what he posts can help to understand the whole bank. Jefferies has been for as long as I have known them (about a decade now) been like it’s own island kind of in the financial world. Independent, growing, one of a kind (they also have like their own building it seems on Madison Ave). A little bit of a “drink the kool-aid” kind of vibe but if it clicks for you then great. They have a lot of the benefits of the BBs/GSs of the world with the balance sheet and also some of the benefits from the EBs of being independent and advisory/intellectual capital focused to some extent. Somewhat of a bro-y culture so that is obviously something not for everyone. I hope this data helps
