It’s straight forward - you can get unlucky and have a US CBP officer go on a power trip, but if you have all the correct documentation and your lawyers prep you properly it’s fairly low risk. Only time I’ve seen or heard of people getting turned down is because they had poor documentation (job description & responsibilities don’t match the profession, or straight up not bringing all of the paperwork) or because they didn’t prepare for the interview properly. Also best to cross at an entry point that is used to processing visas.
A lot of companies are shying away from sponsoring right now because of the rhetoric surrounding the H1b which is unfortunate. I get being patriotic and not wanting Canadians to take American jobs but if you’re losing out to them in interview processes just be better lol.

Agreed with everything, also recommend flying out of Billy Bishop instead of YYZ as the employees are much friendlier and are less likely to interrogate
Did it a few years ago (past admin), advice I got was go to Billy Bishop into Newark. Process was very smooth but was very prepped. I used Richardson Jurusik and actually hired them personally to review the version my firm did because I was extra cautious, happy I did it. If it is a general law firm preparing the application that doesn’t live TNs and other work visas I would be cautious. I have also heard of people fly in from Mexico lol, not sure if that is a good or bad idea.

Any law firms you would recommend?
Assuming you are working on TN, have you noticed increased scrutiny everytime you enter US after international travel?

Is it not risky to seek approval at the port-of-entry vs. USCIS pre-approval?
Mind sharing the job category your employer utilised and your degree?

Was it Pre-Trump or Post? Which job category did they use and what was your degree in?
Billy Bishop has pre-clearance now, so you’ll do the TN processing there instead of after landing in Newark.
