Transferring from Dartmouth to Brown?

Title.

One reason is because as a freshman my competitors are already well-connected and stacked with internships. I guess technically I count as diversity, so that might offset it. Nepotism and influence seem to be more pronounced at Dartmouth. Another reason is that Dartmouth doesn't give good GPA, especially for Econ, which matters because we don't have a finance major. Dartmouth seems to be on the deflated side of the Ivies. Brown I heard everyone gets good grades and it is pretty chill. At Dartmouth, there is a lot more competition since it seems like everyone wants to have a job finance-related. Brown seems more diversified (less finance ppl) and there seems to be less competition. People there seem to be more chill. One thing of note is that Dartmouth has a tighter alumni base and seems to be slightly more prestigious in terms of IB name-value. If I transfer to Brown I need to worry about the club recruiting process which is a hassle.

Please let me know if I should transfer or not.

This is still kinda stupid, but slightly better than OP’s situation, b/c there are still improvements in recruiting especially in consulting

I would argue that non-Wharton Penn is still more prestigious than Cornell; not a massive jump, but the overall brand is still stronger. Some people also prefer Philly to Ithaca (can’t say I blame them). No clue why anybody would want to go to school in Rhode Island though, and I’ve never perceived Brown as much of a finance feeder (I could be wrong, but I haven’t come across too many alumni in finance).

Transferring to Brown only for IB is the dumbest shit I've heard. This has to be a bait.

What's wrong with Dartmouth nowadays lmao. It's a great school. Just touch some grass and drink beers with friends.

Can’t give tailored advice on your situation but oh my god this industry is so fucking retarded if freshman are already “stacked”

I promise I don't mean for this to sound harsh, but if Dartmouth (which is widely known as a great undergrad exp) is too competitive for you, running away to Brown won't solve any problems.

If you think nepotism/influence "seems to be more pronounced" at Dartmouth, you are going to be in for a shock when the group of consistently high Brown history majors get GS gigs because of their parents' network.

Dart is definitely better than Brown. Yes, packed to the brim with nepo babies, but make friends them be chill, and they can get you recs as well. At very least, introductions so you can earn the rec.

Never understood insecurity around people with connections; didn’t have too many myself starting out, but becoming friends with those who did (Greek life, clubs, etc.) only opened doors for me (great friends as another bonus). Dartmouth > Brown 11/10 times for finance; I’d argue Brown is the Ivy least oriented towards IB/PE. Finally, and most importantly, the industry is competitive; you can’t run from your problems at work, so what makes you think you can in school?

if you can't get a 4.0 at Dartmouth you're genuinely a low-intelligence person

Dartmouth better imo — better network for the industry. There is effectively no difference in how I perceive the intelligence and work ethic of grads from these two schools. Somewhere in my mind I perceive brown as arty so frankly if I had to force rank the two based on first glance perception I would favor D. But I cannot emphasize enough how much this doesn’t matter and this is dumb that you’re even thinking this way. If you can’t get an offer out of either of these schools, it was not related to the school
