Transferring to a non-target school after bad first year at CC.

I'm a freshman at community college (I was supposed to go to a semi-target, Indiana but COVID-19 ruined those plans) I also was interested in IB since my sophomore year of HS and I started networking for it this year. I've been on many calls with bankers and set up excel sheets so I could track progress + keep in touch. I failed to do good in school this semester (3.0 GPA) and even if I do perfect next semester I still won't be able to transfer to a bigger target school.

So basically, if I end up transferring to a non-target school (Penn State, Rutgers, Indiana non-Kelley) how does my impact my chances breaking into IB.

Should also add that I'm a diversity candidate(young black kid) so I'm shooting to apply for the sophomore year specific internships that banks have, so that's why I'm starting so early and putting emphasis on this.

I don’t think you’ll have problem breaking into IB as you mentioned you’re a diversity(black) Plenty of my friends got into IB/PE with less than 3.0 GPA and almost ZERO networking from a non target. The bar is lower so your GPA and school won’t matter as much. Good luck!
