Two Hypothetical Situations

1) Let's say that you had a round 1 interview and didn't get invited back for round two.

2) Let's say you didn't even get invited for an interview, but the recruiter e-mailed to tell you so, or you have their e-mail address.

Now, after the rejection in each case, how would it look if you offered to work full-time unpaid?

Let's talk about if the the proposition was made to all types - BB, MM, and boutique banks. Has anyone ever made this proposition, do you know any successful stories of friends who have?

offering to work FT unpaid is desperate....if they rejected you, it probably wasn't because of the money, and offering to work for free won't change the reason they didn't hire you....

If you just offer to work free, you are coming across way desperate...why not try to get a paid job first before working for free...

Well it's not a matter of desperation. The way I see it is that the first job out of college sets you and locks you into a certain career path with varying exit ops. I would rather work unpaid in IB, PE, or ER than paid 50-60k? at PWC, Deloitte, Accenture, or Booz Allen Hamilton.....

And since one has been rejected anyway, I don't see what there is to loose offering to work unpaid and providing a good reason why. I imagine boutiques would be more responsive to a proposition like this? Remember, Buffet's willingness to work unpaid at Graham Newman :)
