Have heard the group was a shit hole from people there. The UBS Tech experiment is basically a failure; they haven't done an M&A deal over a year over like a 100MM in EV despite being maybe the 3rd or 4th biggest coverage group at the firm. It doesn't win deals in any product; just a pitch. The hours are terrible since MD's are desperate to not get fired once their guaranteed bonuses are up in a year. Might get the rare instance where it's worth it to take basically any MM over this. Even if this is the only offer, would strongly consider trying your best to switch to NYC into an ideally non-tech group.

Edit: Also want to note: these MDs typically have a 2-year guarantee and since they came in 2024 it will expire in 2026. Very possible return offer rates are trash as these underperforming MDs get laid off. Also it's typically very hard to switch locations from SA to FT, so even if you get the return you might be stuck in a group with no viable seniors and no deal flow; would really think long and hard about taking this summer. Even if you do get to switch groups, it's very doubtful that any good group is going to be open, so you'll most likely be stuck in a group with similar dynamics anyway just in NYC instead of SF.
