UCL PPE vs Durham Econ vs Warwick PPE

Got offers for all 3. Could anyone with a bit of experience pls rank them for IB recruitment or at least tell me which is best pls? Bit worried that PPE isn’t quantitative enough although Warwick and ucl r more targeted than Durham (so I hear). Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Degree is mostly irrelevant especially when picking between those ones. in general for ib ucl>warwick>durham. for your particular case the difference becomes  more marginal ucl ppe>Warwick ppe>=durham Econ.I say that in the sense that at most banks you will see either a similar amount of people with Warwick ppe as durham Econ or slightly more doing Warwick ppe. Overall semantics between such degree fields don't really matter and things only start getting interesting when looking at the impressive stem courses vs ppe/econ etc.

All great unis/courses and you can land an IB role from all 3 (Durham maybe slightly more difficult, but still very possible)

My one word of advice (being at one of these 3) would be pick based on uni experience/location - these are all VERY different universities, pick the one you think you will enjoy the most - Durham and Warwick will also be a lot cheaper than UCL.

Bit of a niche Q here but how is the uni experience significantly different between Warwick and Durham? I just assumed that they were broadly similar, unlike UCL due to the London factor. Perhaps I’m completely wrong?

Will caveat with the fact Durham 1st year in-uni accommodation costs are highway robbery. Especially if you get assigned to a certain college which is catered, you are forced to pay £2,500 over the year (on top of accomodation which is like £6k for shared - ridiculous for the north). I think it equates to like £4/meal, which they advertise positively for some reason - last I remember there's even instagram accounts made to poke fun of the slop they serve up.

Anyway, just try aim to secure accommodation external to the university if you consider Durham.

This would ruin your social life at Durham just saying…

I would choose between UCL and Warwick with UCL slightly edging out but it’s not a massive difference

Look into the culture of each university and pick whichever one you prefer

There’s more to life than investment banking.

You’ll probably spend the next several decades of your career in London so I’d pick out of Warwick or Durham whichever one appeals to you the most.

I was in a similar position, went to Warwick and absolutely loved Leamington Spa, but maybe you’ll decide you like Durham more.

At the end of the day they’re all pretty much equal.

I did exactly this after getting offers from all 3. Best choice ever, and I still love visiting Durham. Incredibly beautiful village-feel city perfect for taking a refreshing break from london

Chose Warwick Econ over UCL Econ and going to a BB this summer, no regrets so far (other than the occasional inconvenience of traveling to London for professional events, though for multi-day stuff a free hotel is a nice perk) Don’t think the degree makes a difference for IB.

I do PPE at Warwick and recommend it strongly. I think if you want a campus environment then it’s totally worth it. If you want the London environment then choose UCL. My advice is for Warwick PPE is to choose modules carefully and don’t do the tripartite path.
