Sounds like a great opportunity, wonder if they are going to focus recruitment from the DC area

Saw somewhere they were looking from the top bulges so NYC/SF/LA definitely in play

A few weeks ago someone who knows someone working there asked if I was interested. So another avenue would be just networking. Technically through finance network but I do have a lot of overlap with DoD and politics in general.

I’m not about to make an intro over WSO unfortunately but I would suggest LinkedIn. Just check who you know that works for DoD. The people at OSC are pretty well networked. If you are politically active then a good chance you were at a conference with some of the guys.

Sounds interesting in theory, but the strict 2-and-out nature + need to move to DC probably turns many people away who want to stay in top markets.

$250k comp is actually pretty great for DC.

The MD page was laughable - “willing to work from DC 4 days a week and NYC on Fridays”. Doubt any MD is going to want to either move to DC for this role or get an apt there for the 4 days and do the 8 hour round trip commute every Fri-Sun.

The Pentagon is building a new team of investment bankers steeped in private equity to invest $200 billion over three years in defense deals, aiming to counter China’s rise, according to a document reviewed by Semafor.

If anyone has dreams of becoming a 90s Russian oligarch, here's your chance.  The amount of corruption involved with that 200 billion is going to be unfathomable.

This happened with CHIPS office too during the Biden years, I know a few people who did that as well before returning to places like JPM and Evercore. I honestly do think it can be a fantastic opportunity if you want to be in A&D banking or investing - you’re gonna be working for Stephen Feinberg of Cerberus and making an awesome network. It’s basically getting paid to get the best parts of MBA. Think of it like the lawyers who go clerk for SCOTUS for a few years in DC then return to big law - it’s a great resume add and huge networking opportunity.

I wish i would’ve gotten the call but hey, good luck to those that do.

It’s not only BBs, everyone I know across the street is getting hit up. Everyone agrees it sounds like a cool opportunity but no one has the guts to actually do it

im an incoming analyst at a top bank, think moelis etc, and a senior at a top UG business school, think UT austin, IU Kelley, Michigan Ross — can i do this?

congrats on IU kelley + no you can't, they are recruiting from banks because they have already trained their employees
