Makes sense, it’s usually less desirable groups that will do pre placement. Don’t fall for the guaranteed placement, just make sure you network hard with your top choice group and city. Lmk if you have any specific questions and good luck!
You will have a week to network with potential groups that you're interested in then you rank the groups you click well with 1-10, then the groups will rank you and if its a good match you will be placed in your top group. You can make a preference for location (NYC, CLT, SF, LA, etc.) or for group in terms of overall placement. The process has changed a lot (like removing random nonsense groups from the normal process) and WF is moving most of their IB to their new NYC office so I would recommend focusing on your group placement rather than trying to game the location so that you are guaranteed NYC.
