What are my odds of getting into IB

Hey guys.

The title does look a bit old after reading other articles with similar query, but I am writing this up anyway since I couldn’t relate myself to any of those answers due to the peculiar situation I am in.

To start with, I am a 22 years old Korean who finished my first year of study in physics at ucl with 2.2 degree. To serve my mandatory military duty, I stopped my study and returned to Korea. Fortunately, I could avoid serving in the army due to my rugby injury back in sixth form. I was sent to serve at a local school instead, which means I’ll have plenty of more time for myself. I spent this time acquiring some Korean finance related certifications.

The first part of my question is this: I am intending to study and acquire CAIA starting next month, but is it really worth it? Is there any other activities you would recommend given the fact that I can’t have any paid jobs?

After I finish my service, which will be in July 2019, I will be working at a asset management firm until I return to study at UCL. My another question is: would working at a firm in Korea help me get a summer internship back in London?

The last question is: Would I be too old(24) to get a job in IB after I finish my bachelor’s degree? I’ve heard that the world of finance does not hire candidates who are above certain age. What is the general rule here?

Thanks for reading and I’m looking forward to reading your comments.
+ please excuse any type-o if there is any. I wrote it with a phone.
