What do Post-MBA IB Associates Do?
Hey all,
I've seen a lot of posts about people not needing finance experience getting into IB from top business schools.
How do these Associates manage analysts if they've never had that experience? What are the duties and roles assigned to a post-mba associate? I'm assuming it's different and more client based vs. managing analysts, but it'd be nice to know what Post-MBA associates do without prior experience. Is it two different jobs (Promoted Associate vs. MBA Associate)
I've searched previous threads but there isn't anything directly breaking this down
Thanks ahead!
There is no difference between an A to A and post MBA associate. You learn the finance and accounting in the MBA coursework and third party IB courses (for some). Plus, the internship gives a taste of the job before coming on full time, and you go through training also.
Coming in fresh, they may learn a bit from the 3rd year analysts on how they are suppose to do their job
IBD Responsibilities for Post-MBA Associates (Originally Posted: 04/13/2018)
I have a non-traditional background going to MBA business schools">M7 this Fall and will be recruiting for IBD. After speaking with several bankers it seems that the bulk of the day to day is to review models that analysts built and help build decks. Is this true? Are the responsibilities different between BB and EB? Thanks again for all your help.
