What have you bought to treat yourself?
As the title says…what have you bought yourself to treat yourself for the shit we put up with. Did you buy it w your bonus? Can be an item, vacation, or whatever made you happy.
I’ll go first: when that bonus hit i walked right into rolex AD and got my first piece. Cherish the fuck out of that thing even though it is “material” and every five bankers have one
Theres just something about that feeling of a nice watch on your wrist. Congrats. What piece?
Big car guy so recently purchased a new BMW.
What kind of bmw?
Got the classic banking sub, looks so nice
Surprised you were able to walk in and cop a sub. Were you on a waiting list?
What do you think of the Omega Speedmaster
Nice meal at a restaurant
Watches but it's more of a constant thing than tied to any specific exit.
What watches did you buy/at what level did you buy them. Always a great investment
Incoming but I've always admired watch collectors and hope to start my own collection one day.
An AMG GT R in solarbeam yellow
sexy ass car mate, i lean towards that brilliant blue though
That's tuff
hookers and cocaine
but mostly hookers
Stay safe
Lol why am I not surprised that this comment appeared on this thread…
This thread once again reaffirms that investment banking analysts are the most boring, uncreative, and uninspired people on the face of the planet. Imagine getting a $40-$80k bonus and your first thought is to buy the exact same Rolex Submariner / Omega Speedmaster every other analyst in your class has.
Hey some kids might just quit and take a year long vacation…. Haha I did :)
also I understand the watch kids. If they are serious about working in the industry they want to invest in themselves / work appropriate stuff. If they need / want a nice watch to keep doing a good job then power to them. Good for them. Time is very valuable!!!! At the very least an expensive watch can remind a person just how valuable time can be…
Yooo where did you spend that year, the whole time abroad somewhere, backpacking SE Asia, or hopping around?
Haha I agree, but to be fair what watch would you suggest at that price point instead? I personally like watches and actually wanted a sub but learning that it's apparently "basic" in banking makes it a turnoff now... I think I'm just gonna save up and buy something at a ~20k price point after year two instead so I'm not the same as everyone else...
Watches I like 10k~30k: Lange 1815 or the 1815 up/down, Lange 1 (perhaps look into preowned), Blancpain Fifty Fathoms (either the 45mm or the limited editions of 40mm), Vacheron Constantin Traditionelle small seconds, JLC Duometre (either the moonphase or chronograph), Vacheron Constantin Overseas. Lol I guess I'm a Richemont fan.
Did the same. Bought an AP 15400 then moved on to an Aquanaut.
Get a JLC or a Grand Seiko, if you're looking to stay at the entry-level price point
You can get some great watches at the $20k price point. You could get a PP Calavatra, Lange Chronograph, F.P. Journe (my favorite watchmaker). You don't need to spend this much money just for a unique watch though. The commentator above me is right about JLC and Grand Seiko (amazing quality at the price point). IWC, H. Moser, and Zenith are also great.
I bought a pair of designer sunglasses (not that prada/persol/gucci bs, actual lesser-known extremely quality sunglasses specific brand) that I've had my eye on since highschool. Also spent about $300 at the GAP lol
$6k road bike and $4k gravel bike, both of which were sold to make room for a $8k road bike, $6k TT bike, and $2k track bike.
Sickening to type that out, but I like what I like...
How are people just walking into an AD (assuming as a first time buyer) and copping submariner? Waitlists have been insane for the last year and a half
was literally wondering the same thing…
What about Breitling watches?
