what percentage from non-targets?

ok NOT trying to troll, but couldn't find an answer. From your analyst class, what percentage come from the said "target" schools? does this differ in other sections of a bank (S&T, AM, PWM)? gracias

I'd say in IBD at the BB I'm working in, about 1/3 were from the top targets (like HYPS, Columbia, Dartmouth, etc.), and another 1/6 or so were from top liberal arts colleges (ie: Colgate, Amherst, Williams).

That kinda implies the other 50% were non-targets.

SA at elite boutique this upcoming summer - out of 15, there are 1 or 2 from non-targets (but still good, very well known schools)

Should also note that this number depends heavily on which firm you're talking about and which schools it recruits at. A school can be target for one BB and not another. Or a school can be target for one division of a BB and not another. For example, Lehigh is a target for Barcap ER but for any another firm/division it would be considered a non-target. A lot of it has to do with alum presence as well as proximity

That's right - about half the people were from non-targets. But you got to keep in mind that there are hundreds of non-target schools for one target school, and each non-target school has 2-5x as many students as typical targets.

That makes me curious to see how many come from schools out of the top 50 per USNWR or out of the top 100...
