Cowen is a common one.
I have heard Co-in (almost like Cohen) a million times haha
How do you pronounce it
Has to be COW-en no?
It's bar-kleez? Could have sworn it was pronounced the same as the word clay.
guess that's why i'm a non-target
I think there's a lot of reasons why you're a non-target, champ.
.
that... wouldn't be correct in French, either?
Would be deu-lo-what in French
It is not pronounced Bar-kleez.
It is Bar-clays.
Yes it is. It's a British bank and it's pronounced Bark-leez.
Source: myself cause I'm British
“MOE-ELL-IS”
Heard a guy pronounce Deutsche Bank "Bulge bracket"; never heard a mispronunciation that bad
"Douche Bank"
,
Is DB a BB?
You've learned, young cub.
stop they're already dead
>
I think the second guy just has an asian accent
Do you know what moo lah means tho lol
"Golden Sachs"
It is Lazaarr not Lazart.
I recently got corrected on this one. I guess it's pronounced Luh-zard not Laz-are-d
Wtf, that list of how to pronounce them correctly was actually how I pronounced all of them
....and I work for one of them
"Laz-zerd" "Moe-ell-is"
-Me
Rothschild is actually pronounced "Epstein didn't kill himself"
just like THE Ohio State University, it's THE GOLDMAN SACHS
make sure to say "give me a job at THE Goldman Sachs" during your interview
THE body built by taco bell
THE Hershey’s squirts after consuming said Taco Bell
BMO Capital Markets. Bimo sounds stupid though.
.
Not a bank’s mispronounciation, but I had an interviewee once pronounce EBITDA EBIT-dee-ay. Granted he was only an aspiring intern, but the crime was unforgivable
FDIC is prounounced F - DICK
FDIC, EBIT DA tip off during the blow job
We have some bankers and a group head pronounce it like this. I think it's a regional thing.
I personally don't pronounce it that way but I recall when Joshua Rosenbaum visited my school and repeatedly said "EBIT-dee-ay".
Pretty sure there is nothing wrong with that.
That's horrible. I worked with an accountant who pronounced it EH-BID-UH which was almost as bad.
Financial Analysis prof (complete idiot who had never managed money in his life) said it like that all semester. That’s what happens when you go to a non target.

Co-In instead of Cow-in and B-M-O instead of Bee-Mo are the two that come to mind.
Also once heard ScotiaBank pronounced Sco-she-ah Bank before and Societe Generale get americanized to Society General.
Lol at you guys getting upset that I mispronounce your crappy bank wrong. BMO, Deutsche, Baird, Nomura, BNP Paribas, Cowen.... maybe we just dont associate with those banks/bankers so we frankly cant pronounce them.
Might as well just pronounce those as "non target".
I've always pronouced credit suisse as " credit swees" as that's how it would be in French.
Churchhill Schwartz. Whoever came up with that name for the movie obviously had trouble:
Pronouncing things his or her entire life, and
Was completely unoriginal from birth.
Sorry just had to get that off my chest. Don't mind the little rant
As a German speaker definitely Deutsche Bank as Deut-sche BANK rather than NOT-A-BB
Credit Suisse --> Credit Sweeessee
Are you guys kidding me? Its not pronounced "CREDIT SWISS" you uncouth millennial swines. Its pronounced "Credee Suieess". Silent T! Disappointing.
Best,
A fed-up Swiss financier who works in America
a common mistake in China is to pronounce GS as "Goldman Satches". And when I corrected someone once she said "So what" and kept pronouncing it "Goldman Satches" repeatedly for the rest of the conversation. It was annoying. Now if she'd said "golden snatches" I would have been ok with it.
