Gucci Mane's Trap God albums are the only tracklists you should listen to while working on deals.
I usually go instrumental, Brian Eno - Music for Airports, Explosions in the Sky, Eluvium, Broken Social Scene (first album is mostly instrumental), This Will Destroy You. For some reason if there are lyrics in the song my ADD hooks on to them and I can't focus on both things at once.
Two Steps from Hell -6hr mix of the most epic music known to man.

These are awesome!
i typically listen to Rage Against the Machine or Rick Ross on Pandora
Rap
i know someone who names his playlists after project codenames. had to stop following him on grooveshark because it was so damn obvious what he was working on.
Trance music - Radio shows (ASOT) and music festivals (AvB only, EDC).
I usually listen to deep house or minimal.

Club music to prepare for the weekend of clubbing
some sad song to know remind myself that im working and not on vacation
+1 for instrumental stuff. Been feeling Tycho lately.
Ke$ha
Keeps me focused on the $
Hardwell On Air I can't post any links but check out 114, it's easily his best
I have the Game of Thrones theme song on repeat at all times...
Notorious B.I.G. - "Mo Money Mo Problems"
...on repeat
www.mattdarey.com
Modeling playlist is Biggie Pandora
All else is Hardwell's Ultra set
Playlist that contains Nas (his old shit), Jay z (The Blueprint, i dont fuck with his new weak shit), Dr. Dre, Game, A$AP Rocky, Kendrick.
This shit reminds me that im on "the grind", albeit a "White collar grind"
almost everything from Drake
I've been getting through some of Hans Zimmer's film soundtracks.
In '87, Huey released this, Fore, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself.

This might sound like odd advice, but use video game soundtracks. They're designed to stimulate without disrupting focus or concentration.
that's actually a really good point. love that.
A Beautiful Mind soundtrack, Sons of Anarchy soundtrack ("All along the watchtower" by the forest rangers)
Whatever is on my mind. Sometimes it's western shit straight out of The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Sometimes it's 90s music (brings back the memories). Sometimes its weird foreign music I picked up while studying abroad.
I'm a huge fan of BBC Essential Mixes or Above & Beyond's Group Therapy podcast
Above & Beyond is good stuff!!! Each day I always seem to have EDM playing at some point.
I listen to uptempo jazz, relaxes the shit out of me and I cant help but appreciate life (and the work that im doing) when listening to such beautiful music.
i can't listen to anything while working... distracted too easily. am i the only one?
Uptempo Jazz. Could give that a try today.
I listen to punk. I don't even really like much punk - I think it's really mediocre; maybe that helps me focus, along with the fact that the tempo is upbeat. If I were listening to my favorite music I'd have the @Whiskey5" problem - I would get too distracted.
Also worth noting I throw the headphones on way less now than in banking...guess i have to think more often in this job :)
deep house, particularly this one https://soundcloud.com/product-one-music/deep-in-it-03-11-15-herman-vil…
I usually listen to smooth jazz or classical piano stations on Pandora if it's actual work I have to think about. Otherwise it's bangers for days and I'm also into the electronow playlist on Spotify.
Lil Jon and the Eastside Boys on Pandora
Deep house or tech house is the best for studying/doing work IMO. If you have soundcloud/mixcloud, check these artists out, they usually have sets/podcasts online. Great taste AndyLouis
Deep Dish Lee Foss Hot Since 82 Jay Lumen Lee Foss Jamie Jones Nico Pusch Lexer Superflu Andhim Solomun Dixon
For some reason, I feel like those slow me down... Thundering Herd, First Take, Bomami Jones, and Dan Lebetard are on for me daily. But I feel slow when I put those on
Lee Foss and Jaime Jones ftw.
Pretty much everyone from their label I really enjoy
Carl cox boiler room ibiza sesh a la youtube
definitely love sports but for some reason if i listen to podcasts or people talking i get distracted.
Trap. Gotta get the inspiration to make that money.
This 100%.
Banking and trapping is basically the same sh*t. They hustle on the streets, and we hustle using spreadsheets. Best music is music that reminds you to keep your mind on the moola
+1, for listening to Future, Gucci, Migos, Rick Ross, etc.
haha. love that.
New age RnB like Urba Flora and the Weeknd.
Mix in some chillwave, and some smokers hip hop like Curren$y or Roc Marciano or Big KRIT and its a go.
The Glitch Mob all day.
Great thread idea, looking forward to picking up some new music.
chopin
Cocaine by Eric Clapton. Personally I go with the Scarface soundtrack, or perhaps some 90's dance music to get the fingers flowing.
Above & Beyond Group Therapy - 2 hour mixes on soundcloud.
any chillstep playlist on youtube:
youtube has a lot of good mixes all around 1hr. good suggestion.
Kygo and Thomas Jack for some tropical house are clutch as well.
50 cent is money...oh wait
not to side track the convo... but do people REALLY think 50 cent is broke..?
zingggggg
Gary Clark Jr. is solid. That guy shreds on the guitar
Biggie
The Art of Flight soundtrack is my personal favorite.
here's another good DJ i just discovered recently (Jared Dillian!)... https://soundcloud.com/djstochastic
Eliot Lipp -- Alive
I don't like EL's other songs, as I think he tries to get too funky and eclectic on them, resulting in a really annoying brand of "whiz-whir-womp-womp-womp" porn. But "Alive" is just a ridiculously well-done song. Drive at night to it. Drive fast to it. Crank on sick lbo models to it.
I also like the constant BPM of deep/tech house on leisure time and when working/doing school. Very surprised to see so many house/tech listeners in WSO. Deep house has blown up in the last 2-3 years and there are artists for every taste. In tech house though to name a few: the legendary Carl Cox obviously, Jon Rundell (GREAT flow, found by CC), Nicole Moudaber (sometimes her sets lack of good flow, but decent tech), and most Ibiza club residents (Space, Pacha, ..., Amnezia) play very solid tech.
deep house & tropical house are my two go-to's. I also like to throw in coldplay/mumford and sons if it's been a long day and I want to wallow in my depression.
Uplifting trance

Hip-Hop? Eh
Who listens to this dirty south shit, its for rodeo clowns.
I like vocal trance and early house from 1996-2004. I.E PVD, Jonathan Peters. If Rock- Nirvana with Nu Metal.
But If im going to listen to RAP, I'll do it right with this:
Mobb Deep
and the whole Infamous Album from 1995 is a masterpiece.
Apologies for the shit format, but this is my playlist from iTunes. All ill songs. If you're from Boston check out "Gotsta Get It"
But seriously if you haven't heard some of these check'em out. Trust me.

All 3 of Big K.R.I.T's mixtapes (KRIT Wuz Here, Return of 4eva, 4Eva Na Day) and his new album (Live from the Uderground). Straight from the south, shit is too trill.
For the dude who said southern rap is for clowns, I listen to all regions of rap and the south definitely wins at making soulful music.
Pandora right now.
Freddie GIbbs, Big K.R.I.T, Big L, Ab-Soul, Little Brother, Old School Outkast (southernplayalisticadillacmuzik-ATLiens), Elzhi, Joey Bada$$
ASAP is not a good rapper and ,Swagon, Juicy J is not the same guy as OJ Da Juiceman, nice fail though.
CREAM by wu tang
I can admit when i'm owned. Swagon owned me.
These are in my current rotation...
Regards
I'll also listen to Put On by Young Jeezy. "I feel like there's still niggas that owe me checks. I feel like there's still bitches that owe me sex."
And honestly, there are some good motivation clips on YouTube. I realize they are not really songs, but if you start questioning whether you can handle another hour of modeling or pitchbook turns, listen to one of them and allow it to remind you that there's a reason for it all.
Regards
I saw Freddie Gibbs and Big KRIT mentioned in this topic.
I approve.
