When contacting head hunters, should i tell them about other job interviews?
Hi,
I am planning on contacting some head hunters to help me make the transition to equities research (or any other modeling-intensive role -- IBD, leveraged finance, etc). My question is: should I tell the HH that I have a final interview with a top-5 bank (think Citi, CS, Leh, UBS) coming up in two weeks (which is true)?
Pros: it will make me more marketable and add credibility to my credentials.
Cons: it will increase the HH's risk that I won't take his/her job and make the HH less inclined to help me.
Thanks
They won't be less inclined to help you. You are not their client. The bank is their client. They get paid when you accept a job they are placing. They don't care if it is the right decision for you. They get paid LOTS of money to make you take one of their jobs.
They will always give you a look, even if other things are going on. They need to know who you've seen so they don't try and send you there too.
Thank you. I guess I should tell them then.
If those are 4 of the top 5? i suppose ms and GS are 6 and 7?
As far as providing information to the headhunter..you seem to hold the risk vs. return stance. My vote: tell them..since you already have a foot in the door elsewhere.
