When to try to lateral before bonus

What is the recommended amount of time to prep / network for lateraling to another BB. I have been trying to target getting an offer to to start right after bonus is paid but seems right now might be too early for such an offer, per my networking calls, if bonuses are paid in July / August

Curious to hear how long other peoples processes have taken before who transferred after they got their bonuses
